Quickly add new versions

A shortcut to add new versions to your track

Highnote’s version management is one of the features that producers and artists tell us they love most. The ability to layer multiple versions of a track and toggle back and forth to hear changes seamlessly.

Adding new versions as you’re working just got easier with a new updated we just shipped. Instead of multiple clicks to dive into your track details, you can find a shortcut in the version picker itself.

You can still download, upload, and reorder your versions in the track details panel, but this makes it even easier to stay in your flow and make decisions with your creative collaborators.

(Custom version naming is on the way too, thanks to your feedback! We’re all ears if there’s anything we can do to improve your process.)

Playlist Pages

Beautiful pages to share your work

In the biggest update to date, we’re thrilled to share our new Space Pages. After speaking to countless users, we’ve made Spaces smarter, faster, and more useful overall.

First off, you’ll see that Spaces now feature artwork prominently, right at the top of the page, as well as the title and a new description field, letting you provide context for the project, release, or group of tracks within.

Just below, you’ll see a new play button front and center. Clicking this will immediately start playing the tracks in your Space right from the top, seamlessly transitioning from one to the next in our standard uncompressed, lossless playback. Just as before, you can easily change the order by dragging and dropping wherever you prefer.

You’ll also notice new shortcuts to core actions you most frequently take on Highnote. Quickly upload new files, create attachments, record a voice memo, add an existing track from your library, or download everything in the Space, all without having to disrupt your flow and dive into additional menus.

In Spaces where you have attachments, you’ll see that we’ve separated playable tracks from your static files (think: art reference jpegs, lyric notes, cue sheets, and other supporting documents) and links. Now, when you click upload or drag and drop things into your Space, we automatically detect the file type and organize them in these two categories. To make any changes once you’ve uploaded, you can always hit edit from its row.

  • Spaces can now have artwork

  • Add descriptions to provide context

  • Prominent play button for easy listening

  • New shortcuts for adding tracks and downloading

  • Smart organization when adding different file types

  • Optimized for mobile viewing and listening

Collections

Share multiple Spaces easily + organize your library

In this update, we focused on making Highnote even more collaborative and intuitive when organizing your projects. Up until now, Spaces have been the primary way to organize your tracks and bring in your collaborators. But, for those with lots of projects or recurring teams of collaborators, it can be cumbersome to continually re-add the same people to every Space you create.

Now, you can nest Spaces together in Collections. Collections can have unique names, a description to provide context, and unique members who automatically have access to everything saved in that Collection. This enables you to create shared libraries of Spaces and Tracks that are quickly and easily accessible to everyone in your team or studio.

Collaborators that are only added to a specific Space within a Collection will not have access to the other Spaces. Keep projects organized and grouped, while maintaining flexible controls over who can access.

  • Collections are groups of Spaces and other Collections, like a parent folder.

  • Provide shared access to multiple Spaces

  • Perfect for studios, labels, and teams with similar collaborators

  • Help keep your library organized

Universal Playback

Navigate around Highnote without missing a beat

In this update, we’ve made it smoother to navigate around Highnote while listening to tracks. Now, if you’re listening to a track and you click into or back out of a page that contains that same track, audio will continue playing. This means you can start listening to a track on a Space page and click to leave a comment without losing your spot.

  • Tracks continue playing when navigating between views

Gapless Playback

Listen seamlessly and preview transitions

Now, you can treat any Space in Highnote like a playlist on your favorite streaming service. Hit play at the top or on any track and audio will transition to the following track, seamlessly. You’ll also notice no gap between tracks, allowing you to accurately preview your songs’ transitions and fades.

  • Treat Spaces like a playlist by hitting play

  • Tracks will now continue playing to the next

  • Tracks transition seamlessly without any gap between them

Easier Downloads + Faster Uploads

Snappier uploads and organized downloads

In this update, we’ve improved how tracks and attachments are uploaded and downloaded in Highnote. Now, hovering on anything in Highnote reveals shortcuts to key actions. Tracks and attached files can immediately be downloaded, while bookmarks and links can be opened in a new window. In addition, when you download a track that has versions or artwork attached, we’ll package it in a neatly organized ZIP, making it easy to keep everything together.

In addition, we’ve introduced the ability to asynchronously upload tracks while navigating around Highnote. When you upload a group of tracks to your Library or a Space, they’ll continue uploading in the background even if you change Spaces or views.

  • Download anything you’ve uploaded from Highnote from it’s row

  • Tracks, versions, and artwork at all organized neatly into a ZIP

  • Navigate around Highnote while files continue to upload in the background
