Does Highnote own the rights to tracks I upload?

Absolutely not. Highnote does not retain the rights to distribute in marketing, sell, or license uploaded content. What Highnote does retain is your permission to share and send your tracks to the people you explicitly say should have access to them.

What does Highnote do with my data?

There are two different types of data found on Highnote. 1) The data you upload and content you write: this content is yours and yours alone. 2) Usage stats, analytics (e.g. you clicked this, you clicked that): we collect this as it helps us support and better understand where users are getting stuck so we can design a more intuitive product.

Why is Highnote free?

Making Highnote free keeps it accessible to the community and easy for anyone to give feedback on what we’re building to make Highnote the best it can be for everyone.

Highnote is also currently in Beta. This means we think we have work to do to improve the stability and performance of our app and we don’t think it’s smart or fair to start charging for a product we don’t think is up to professional standards yet.

In addition to an always free plan, we will introduce paid plans and other upgrades for those who want them in order to sustain our business. We will of course offer ample warning to our community before any changes are made. Should you decide to move to another service at that time, we’ll make it easy to export all of your data right from Highnote.

How does Highnote make money?

As musicians and audio-lovers, we have strategically taken funding from investors who believe in our mission to build the best way for audio creators and their teams to collaborate over audio. This investment gives us the time to build a reliable and universal tool for all creators without rushing into arbitrarily charging for features.

Will I have to pay for Highnote?

Only if you want to. In addition to a free plan, we will introduce paid plans and other upgrades for those who want them in order to sustain our business. While we don’t know when or what that will be, we will of course offer ample warning to our community before any changes are made. Should you decide to move to another service at that time, we’ll make it easy to export all of your data right from Highnote.

What does Beta mean?

Beta means we think we have work to do to improve the stability and performance of our app and are actively improving, refining, and seeking feedback on what users want to see next.
